Hello Friend,
Your time is precious Reader. I don’t want to waste it. If you have opened this email, I have three things to share today.
ONE.
(Possibly not as exciting to you, but a highlight I wanted to share and maybe a gentle nudge to do that thing you have been putting off?) – This week I connected my old CD Walkman to my speaker; it took me **ACTUAL** years to do it and cost me a total of $7.40 for the cord.
I did it, and now I get to listen to all my old CDs and feel the satisfaction of using real, touchable media I can hold, feel, and care for. Seeing our old “burnt disks” that friends shared back in the day. I didn’t expect to feel this nostalgia so viscerally. It’s been the absolute highlight of the last few challenging weeks.
TWO.
My poetry has had a little halt the last couple of weeks. I suspect it’s because of the treadmill I feel I'm on with some health issues, paired with life's constant-ness, despite my deep desire for slowness. This poem pairs with some of my current work for my upcoming collection, “Living Life in Poetry”. You can sign up for the list for release and info here. So far, I have a very special group of 12 subscribers, so you can join this growing support group for my work by signing up; it’s just a list, no obligation to buy.

Here is a selection of recent snapshots if you aren’t following along on the socials.
And, if you asked me,
How are you today?
I may say I’m fine.

Fine, like I’ve made it
through the past days, exhausted.
From holding the load until seams start to stretch.

Fine, like I’m awake,
I’m alive, and I’m breathing.
But my shoulders feel bruised from the world's weight.

Fine, like I’m thinking
and creating and caring.
But I’m stuck on a treadmill with no end in sight.

So yes, if you asked me, how are you today?
I might just not answer with more than "I’m fine."
THREE.
This weekend, I have had the pleasure of seeing two friends in their first solo exhibitions. One of the artists is a long-time creative friend and PTP member, and I was so thrilled to take home something extra special from both artists.

Additionally, this weekend, two other friends shared that they were feeling creatively blocked, so I chatted through a few things to try, I wrote this which I felt was worth sharing here:
“
Think of creative block like a sprained ankle. You need to recover slowly. You can’t be back running before you have taken the time to heal the parts that are hurt.”
If you are feeling creatively blocked, expecting yourself to “just get over it” is unlikely to work. Gentle guidance and support are a far better option, and creating WITH others can help our brains mirror each other, making it much easier to start creating again.
With this in mind, our next Permission to Play Live Session is starting in less than 20 hours. We’re edging closer to 100 live PTP sessions, and I hope that you, Reader, will take up the offer to come and check out this magic little corner of the internet.
If you want to join the next session, make sure you reply to this email with “PLAY”, and I will send you the Zoom link. Our fortnightly sessions are often described as:
· Fun
· Low stakes
· Inspirational
· A place to try new things
· A space for using art supplies you already own
· Supportive
This whole community, the sessions, the creative play that we do… It’s the reason why I am where I am. Being able to see possibilities and sit in that discomfort of not knowing has helped me tremendously in this part of my life.

In this week’s live session, we’ll work on collage postcards with prompts included! I hope you might take this opportunity to join us. Hit reply with “PLAY”, and I’ll send you the link. No strings attached xox
Until soon.
